News from Norway!
*Minister of Regional policies and Immigration threatened
A mentally ill Iraqi asylum seeker whose application was turned down has been arrested for threatening to shoot Erna Solberg, quite possibly the most obnoxious politician in an already unsympathetic government.
*Election scandal erupts in Oslo
Scrapping the electoral system we've used for the last 135 years in favour of a new vote-counting model designed to "help the smaller parties to obtain representation", the municipial elections in Oslo Saturday last has turned into a dirty old scandal. The final count of votes shows a majority of the votes have gone to the Left (the Labour, Socialist and Communist parties respectively), but this magic new vote-counting thingy means the Right wins the election! Why? Well, because the two principal small parties that will benefit from this new, wonderful system are the right-wing Christian Coalition and Liberal parties. Just a coincidence, you understand, there really is no reason to be concerned that an electoral fraud has been accomplished, this new fantastic vote-counting thingy has been voted over in Parliament! A Parliament which is dominated by? Oh, the Right! Just a strange coincidence, I'm sure! Noooothing to worry about, carry on now! Add the fact that people in traditionally right-wing districts of Oslo were allowed to vote until long after the 8.00pm deadline, ignoring the electoral law, and you have a stolen election. The cheating right-wing bastards never won!
*The Prime Minister gets to meet mr. Pope
After his party of sex-obsessed hypocrits (the Cristian Coalition) gracefully completed their worst election result ever two days earlier, I suppose meeting the Pope cheered him up no end...
*And on Sunday, Lillestrøm take on league leaders Rosenborg Rævklubb in the football league. Rosenborg lead the league by 15 points, Lillestrøm are in 7th place. That'll be fun...
