Finally Friday!!
Baby rapport
What a fantastic piece of news I got this morning. My very best friend Lars and his girlfriend Cecilie became parents, at 10.15 pm last night, to a wonderful little lad at the regional hospital for Akershus county. It's strange, as well: I've known the big man for over a decade, and now, as of last night, he has become a father. What a beautiful world! He told me over the phone, just a couple of hours ago, about the feeling of complete happiness, joy and fulfillment he experienced as his little son came to the world. Well I can only say that I'm not looking less forward to that experience come five months from now after what he has told me!

Rachel again felt some "bubbling" in her tummy last night as we went to bed. I suppose the real kicking from within will set in in a few weeks' time, but she's already swelling. These are happy times indeed!

So, what could be more logical than to bring you this pregnancy-related link to a website by a Norwegian woman, in English, telling you everything about her own pregnancy; choc-a-bloc with pictures of the baby inside as the weeks went by. We're in week 18 at the moment. Enjoy!

The rest of the news!
**Tolkien geeks who've spent three weeks lining up outside Oslo's cinemas in wait for tickets for the last of them Lord of the Rings movies to go on sale. I have instructed my wife that, should ever such a time pass that I pack up to put up a tent and wait for three weeks outside a cinema to get movie tickets, she must shoot me immediately. 'Get a life' indeed...
**Moron falls into the water as the Denmark ferry looms near in the Oslo fjord yesterday. The police were on the scene quickly to avert disaster, providing some much-needed excitement for the residents of the Drøbak fjord outside Oslo yesterday. Check out the pictures of the drama, if you wish, here.
**Beast that killed Anna Lindh has his ass nailed to the crime by surprisingly perceptive Swedish police. 17 years ago they managed to completely screw up the investigation of who killed former PM Olof Palme, but luckily they've learned from their mistakes.
**Norwegians accept high prices. Well, what other option is there?!
**In an item related to the Anna Lindh slaying, Norwegian politicians are now on the receiving end of a drastically upmeasured level of security. Our Secret Service suggest stronger protection for our top dogs in politics. Who knows, someone might throw a hot dog at them! You know, your suit gets all gushy and yukki with all that mustard on it. Personally I think it seems a little over the top. Norwegian politicians have never had the need to be heavily protected. Why, three years ago I lived next door to a politician of the Parliament.
**Norwegian downhill racer Kjetil Andrè Aamodt, who broke his leg quite violently the other day, has sworn he'll race again. Although as someone whose pronuonciation of the Norwegian language is more akin to someone mildly retarded, he's probably lucky they allowed him down the slopes in the first place all those years ago...
**Ari Behn, the author-husband of Princess Märtha Louise, has released a new book. As usual from this pompous wannabe's hand, it's full of pathetic clichès and bleeding obviousness. Nonetheless, it's selling like hell. Why? My guess: Because he's married to royalty!
**Decent tabloid rag Dagbladet knocks us out today with a grand parade of an article on streaking. "Are there any pictures", you ask? Well dear, I told you they are a tabloid newspaper, did I not?
**Annual repetition exercises are normal for all Norwegian males that have served in the armed forces. We do this until we're 44 years old: One weekend a year away from wife, kids and obligations just to go into the woods with your old boys and a bottle of whiskey. You play cards, lie in tents, have fun, pretend you're in a war (but just play around like a five year old), get pissed and eat hot dogs. Thirty years after we started doing this, the tabloids found out...

Weekend's looming! See you on Monday, enjoy life for what it's worth in the meanwhile. Cheerio.
