Hello there!
Well then, it's time to write something in English again for all you English readers...
But what to write? Well, little happens here at the moment, so I'll have to think about that, I suppose...over lunch.
News from Norway! (and Sweden...and Britain)
*Dirty fight in Oslo subway. The subway authorities in Oslo could be mistaken for latter-day Gestapo. Yes, according to these chaps, not buying an overpriced ticket for the subway or bus in Oslo is punishable by a severe beating. This time the victim was an asylum seeker (surprise surprise). Arseholes.
*Ladies' national team in football are knocked out of the World Cup after going down 1-0 to the USA. Sorry to hear that, girls, that's gotta hurt.
*Suspected Lindh killer alledgedly confessed last night. The thought killer of Sweden's foreign minister Anna Lindh is said to have confessed to the crime.
*Yanks tried to censor article. The American Embassy in Oslo never ceases to piss people off. This time, they've tried to stop an article in a weekly publication explaining security gaps in their embassy. Well it's hardly our fault you can't even protect your own embassy is it?! The American embassy is much-disliked around Oslo for their attitude toward their surroundings; for example, they've effectively made it impossible to pass the embassy on foot after erecting a massive fence protruding five meters into the street. That, in addition to an arrogant ambassador and dark-clad, sunglasses-wearing knobs sneaking around frightening people at all times. They're already residing in the ugliest building in Oslo, so just move out of town so we can tear it down, will you? Come to think of it, the fucking Israelis are a pain in the batty as well. Take them with you...
*North Korea share an interest with all the single Norwegian men living in rural surroundings: They quite like our goats...
*Norwegians, a bunch of complaining wan****. Yes, that's right, folks! Not only are we (a) the most horny in Europe and (b) the least religious people in Europe - now, we're also officially the second-worst bunch of complaining crybabies in Europe. It appears we're only beaten by the Greeks. Out of the nine countries surveyed, Norwegians are consistently less satisfied with, well, stuff, than any other country. We have the most money, but are still miserable. No particular surprise, perhaps. We're not miserable: We're spoiled. Norway is a country where elections, for goodness' sake, are determined by who can guarantee to lower the prices for booze and petrol the most; where teenagers can spend upwards of £600 on a new mobile phone and still complain that they never get anything, and where a good 16% of the voting population have no qualms about supporting a party which is overtly racist (that'll be the Progress Party). Disappointing? Nay, embarassing! Unsurprisingly, the fantastic Irish are the happiest people in our part of the world.
*Footballers charged with rape face hell. The eight football players faced with charges of raping a 17 year old girl have been ordered by their club to fully cooperate with investigators and voluntarily submit DNA samples, or else have their careers ruined. For legal reasons neither clubs nor names of players have been mentioned, but it's become painfully obvious that one of the clubs involved is Newcastle United. One player involved has been in court previously, whilst playing for another club. If the charges are true they ought to be castigated publicly. Rapists and molesters of all kinds are the lowest form of scum on the planet. Castration now!
*A fantastic front page from that most delicate shelf of British journalism, the Daily Mirror
